Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals is an organization created by young professionals for young professionals. We work to enhance our community, create connections, and invest in each other. 

Our Executive Director will have the opportunity to be a visionary and work alongside our Board of Directors in a number of different roles. She or he will implement programming, facilitate connections, and understand the needs of area employers to continue building the Grand Forks community, making it a vibrant and exciting place for young professionals to live, work and play.  

Essential Responsibilities

Sponsor Relations / Fundraising – 35% 

  • Use external presence to develop relationships with current and future GGFYP sponsors
  • Drive fundraising efforts and maintain an updated sponsorship pipeline 
  • Seek out and apply for relevant grant opportunities
  • Work with the board President to host quarterly advisory board meetings to communicate and solicit input from GGFYP sponsors and partners, preparing meeting agenda and materials

Member Relations – 25%

  • Serve as primary contact between members and GGFYP
  • Engage with members using social media and digital marketing
  • Lead, develop, and maintain GGFYP programming and regularly evaluate program components, measuring successes and effectively communicating them to the Board, funders, and other constituents
  • Work with the GGFYP Board of Directors to establish and coordinate professional development, volunteerism, social networking, and leadership opportunities for young professionals in the community, and promote such opportunities to GGFYP members
  • Stay informed of local, state, and national issues that impact young professionals
  • Report to monthly board meetings, quarterly advisory board meetings, and participate in regular meetings with individual board members
  • Other responsibilities designated by the GGFYP Board of Directors

Community & Public Relations – 20%

  • Serve as public affairs / relations for Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals
    • Issue press releases to local media stations
    • Conduct media interviews on behalf of GGFYP
    • Seek earned media opportunities to expand brand and presence of GGFYP
    • Participate / coordinate speakers for local GGFYP marketing segments
  • Assemble and distribute weekly GGFYP newsletter
  • Promote activities of GGFYP members within the community
  • Participate in Grand Forks Region Economic Development activities, including board meetings, task forces, and regular events on behalf of GGFYP
  • Work with GGFYP Board, UND Student Young Professionals chapter, the University of North Dakota, and Northland Community and Technical College to encourage student involvement, with a goal of attracting students to pursue careers in the Greater Grand Forks community
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications – from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand

Administrative – 20%

  • Prepare an annual budget in partnership with Board Treasurer for the approval of the Board
  • Regularly monitor the organization’s budget to maintain accountability and ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Director on all aspects of the organization’s activities
  • Work with the board President to coordinate monthly board meetings, preparing meeting materials and agendas
  • Work with Internal Advisor to draft policies for the approval of the Board, and review existing policies on an annual basis, recommending appropriate changes
  • Process accounts receivable and accounts payable for all GGFYP activities
  • Administer and maintain all files, permits, applications, grants, and other official paperwork for GGFYP
  • Ensure taxes are filed on behalf of GGFYP
  • Determine staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orienting, and evaluating staff 
  • Oversee the implementation of human resource policies and develop job descriptions for all staff
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university is preferred, but a history of relevant employment will also be considered 
  • Passion for the Grand Forks community, and the desire to build a thriving 21st Century workforce
  • Strong fundraising ability with a desire to create and maintain relationships with potential and current sponsors
  • Ability to understand, craft, and maintain an annual organizational budget in excess of $100,000 
  • Ability to speak in front of large groups of people
  • Ability to work independently and under limited supervision 
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they relate to nonprofits
  • Knowledge of leadership and nonprofit management principles
  • Event coordination experience
  • 2+ years in a management or nonprofit executive role is preferred
  • Experience or knowledge working with Board of Directors is preferred
  • Ability to occasionally lift, pull, push, carry moderate amounts of weight

Salary Range:
$45,000-$55,000 (Based On Experience)
